National MPs demand the Agriculture Minister 'comes clean'

Rural Exchange 18/02/2018

When a former Prime Minister can’t get to Southern Field Days in time for an interview, the next best thing is talking to Tim Van De Molen & Hamish Walker, National MP’s for Waikato and Clutha/Southland.

Mr Walker noted the positive atmosphere at the event, which he said was a far cry from the rough times the local farming community has been having recently.

The continued devastation brought on by the disease Mycoplasma bovis is a big part of that, and the young MP made it clear that Agriculture Minister Damien O’Connor had some big questions to answer.

The minister needs to come clean and give farmers some clarity

Mr Van De Molen says that the expectations of farmers from consumers is evolving, and winning the rural vote largely depends on how well they keep up with this.
