Dr Mark Strom, a Historian of ideas joins Tim Sisarich to discuss the history of Easter, and the virtues that correspond with said history.
Dr Strom discusses the way in which the world has been shaped, through both classical and Judaeo-Christian traditions. He also looks at the idea that virtue, as we think of it is a largely classical way of defining the ideal person.
He explores the concept that without Easter we may still be looking solely to four classical virtues – justice, wisdom, courage and self-control. Instead we can look at these virtues in correspondence with love, compassion, joy and self-sacrifice.
