New Zealand's Winter Olympics medal drought ended today with Zoi Sadwoski-Synnott scoring bronze in the snowboarding big air event.

Just a couple hours later, 16-year-old Nico Porteous also claimed a bronze medal, scoring 94.80 in the free ski halfpipe event in Pyeongchang.

This makes them just the second and third medal winners in New Zealand Winter Olympics history.

Peter Wardell, our Chef de Mission, joined Stephen McIvor on RadioLIVE Drive to share in the excitement.

"We are super excited at the moment," said Peter.

He says after losing a number of their big stars before arriving in Pyeongchang, they made the call to take the young ones over instead.

"They've been superb," he said.

Two 16-year-olds on the podium for New Zealand - just brilliant.
