Auckland Airport has announced plans for a second runway and there will be a new round of consent hearings.
The new plan is 833m longer than the runway originally approved and will be facing further north.
Building height restrictions would now affect more properties, but they would only apply to extremely tall structures. Buildings within the limits of the Unitary Plan would not be affected.
Joining Stephen McIvor to discuss the finer issues is Kelly Roland, Planning Manager, Auckland Airport and Mark Eason from Aircraft Noise Community Consultative Group.
