Govt’s boost of mental health funding applauded by specialist
The Government has taken a small step toward an election promise.
It promised 80 mental health professionals would be assigned to primary and intermediate schools in earthquake-affected areas of Canterbury.
Public health specialist Lucy Dayth joined Steven McIvor on Drive to discuss the Government’s step towards increased mental health funding.
Ms Dayth is behind the “All Right?” wellbeing campaign that was started in 2013.
The campaign has been funded by the Ministry of Health to try foster activities that boost a sense of community, healthy living, generosity, and an appreciation of living in the moment.
“The campaign just reminds us and prompts us about the little things we can do to take care of ourselves,” she told RadioLIVE.
“We’re really grateful for the government for its investment in schools.”
