Yoga for Surfers - Video

Mon, 29 Mar 2010 14:19
Bit a obtuse one here. It's all about MEEEE! I do yoga and I surf (well my version of it anyhow), so it was a bloody pleasant surprise to discover a Yoga for Surfing video series. This is just the intro, and even if your not into either of these pastimes, there are some great surfing shots that don't go on for ever, and some cool looking yoga poses. I bet you end up having a go at it!

Where do the ex Shortland Streeters go?
Ex Shorty St actor Paul Ellis and legendary musician Chris Knoxs daughter Leisha Ward-Knox, act in this short film. The film was made by a great 'just do it' type of kiwi guy, Mark Webster. Mark is into Apple computers, has a website dealing with them, and wanted to teach himself how to use the Final Cut editing. So what better way than shoot a short your first short film! Mark also created the music himself using Apples Garage Band application. Great stuff
Dizzy Rascal video superb camera work
A music video from English rapper Dizzy Rascal. Let it play through and the music starts to really kick, but the camera angles and lenses are superb
Inspirational Nick Vujicic has no arms or legs
Absolutely stunning inspiration. If you ever feel yourself being swamped in a little self pity, as I do myself, then check out this video of someone who has every reason to fell sorry for himself. However Nick Vujicic has made it his mission to get out and inspire people around him who were born able bodied.
Lingalad Giuseppe Festa
yet again not the track I played by Lingalad as there is no video. However I played a piece of this track as it is the voice of the italian actor who dubbed Sir Ian McKellens character of Gandalf in the Italian release of Lord Of The Rings. Stunning voice!
Kirsten Morrell
This is not the song I played, there is no video out yet, but this gives you a great idea of how stunning Kirsten Morrell is
BP Oil spill according to John Clarke
John Clarke's weekly spiel on OZ telly. This played on Graeme Hill's show. JC is genius.
Skimboarding
While we're checking out some surfing... Do you have memories of gliding along on a skim board, across the thin sheet of water left behind as a wave retreats back into the ocean from whence it came? Well check out where the young punks of today have taken it. The sound track is drum and bass, so if that's not your style then turn the sound down and take in the level these guys perform at, they get HAMMERED, but in the process do some amazing stuff!
Budget crisis explained by John Clarke
The genius of John Clarke gives you a clear run down on how the current crisis came about
Best ever World Cup
Monty Python Philosophers World Cup, superb!!!

Joseph Herscher 'Cremes That Egg'
Here's a brilliant piece of lateral thinking put into 3D by a young kiwi guy Joseph Herscher. His parents are Lyn Lorkin and and Hershal. Renowned music critic William Dart called Lyn "one of New Zealand's cultural treasures". Well Lyn and Hershal gave birth to Joseph and coming from his lineage there was no way he would be anything but talented. I once saw him perform at a Ponsonby Intermediate School talent quest, doing a one man band routine, complete with cymbals on his knees etc. He was brilliant, but I don't know if everyone got it, most of the others were doing some form of hip hop or funky dance routine, but not this guy. This video is the result of Joseph taking up the Cadbury challenge to 'Creme that Egg' a couple of years ago. He came second. I'll post another video of his work next time, he got commissioned by a drink company to create a similar system that poured a drink... Check this: it's genius.
Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, you rock!
Can someone please let the NZ government p**sies out of their sound proofed tax payer funded bunker. I'm sure they must want to voice their opinion about the Japanese Whaling industry... and make no mistake it is an industry... plundering whales annually in an area designated a "sanctuary" (ie, do not whale here!) As the incredibly courageous Peter Bethune sits in a Japanese jail, Murray McCully, John Key and their muffled mates are displaying an incredible lack of conviction, courage and vision. They don't give a s**t about anything but the MONEY baby!. Whether or not you agree with how the Sea Shepherd goes about its business, surely if you have any kind of balls you can have some regard for their passion for fellow mammals, folks we're talking about living, breathing, placental creatures here. Here is a trailer for a film about Sea Shepherd called, At The Edge of The World.
