Chris, Reading your posts I believe you would like to see all taxes abolished and no government spending on anything. If thats what you think how can you say "It is easy to get a high paying job, for some all you need to do is get a degree at Uni". How do you propose a single mother work full time, do a full time Uni course, pay for it and have money left to feed her kids? How does it help NZ keeping someone like that poor? If you truly want to advance NZ you need to invest in the people first.

Sadly I dont believe there is the political will to make the tough decisions needed for our country to lift its game and rise up the OECD etc rankings. We have too much debt, too much invested in property, and too many people are not paying their way.
Over 40% of all revenue collected is paid by just 10% of tax payers- its the hard working guys and gals earning over $60k that is getting clobbered- no wonder we are loosing our skilled labour to Australia.
Couple that with the huge growth in the size of Government spending over the past decade, unless some serious change happens, we will continue to slide into third world status.
Half of all tax payers receive a benefit from government- either through WINZ, ACC or more commonly 'working for families'. This is paid for by a decreasing number of people.
Are we prepared to stop feeding from the the states tit?

Steven, most of the kiwisaver schemes are poorly managed. Though this is the nation that believes, that a residential property portfolio is an investment. Contractors, shop staff etc are the peasants of the 21st century.

Steven, whats wrong with getting rid of kiwisaver? most of the providers are incompetent. Look at some of the recent proformances http://gmi.co.nz/Pages/KiwiSaver/ProviderPerformance.aspx Did you call me greedy for not accepting failure? Failure is not acceptable, tradesmen, and McDonald's workers are failures. They have failed to achieve anything.

Hey chris the only poverty I see is in your spirit .Cant see too many BAs PHds lining up to unblock your shit house or take your money at maccas .Give it a break bro.Get your poor little mind out of your tired greedy gutter, find some compassion that fits with all it takes to make this world work.Your miniture economic ideations can show that no capitalist society has room for only wealthy citizens. All present and past rely on those less payed to do what you see as uneducated work, your type would be lining up to put someone down if you couldnt wallow in your greed .
