Willie what a dumb statement Boxing is big business The night was.a success If sbw had fought any other NZ fighter at this stage of His boxing experience He would not have Sky Take it on. As for Tillman look up his Fighting career he has always Been over weight but hasn't Stopped him from having a High knock out % engage brain before changing Mouth

Willie is wrong.......wouldn't be the first time . The bout should not have been pay per view and Tillman is undertalented and out of condition , but he certainly didn't throw it. ---------- Sonny has improved a lot , as you would expect under a class boxer and trainer like Tony Mundine ( look how well he trained his footballing son Anthony ) . These build-up fights for Sonny aren't much , too predictable, and shouldn't be 'pay per view' . Now, David Tua and Shane cameron are way better , but Sonny has potential to go far - as Tony Mundine says. ------- Already , he's stopped being the "arm boxer" that Bob Jones rightly criticised and is getting fluent , with economical movement . I think he still needs to punch /initiate from the hip more , but he's doing well. Despite the big reach/arms/shoulders he's tending to punch short ( very good idea ). With natural fine movement and timing, he can punch short a lot , and do the business . --------- That's what worked against the inglorious Clarence. It wasn't fake , as Willy Jackson says. I don't have Sky ( bstds ) but it's easy to see what's what from the short 'highlights'. ----------- First left hook just slipped in , with surprising timing and power . He pivoted off his left foot as he contacted. It tagged Tillman - mainly because he didn't see it properly and brace for it. Unseen punches knock you out. Should have gone down on a knee - as Mike Angove said - and taken a count.....or tied up SBW , leaning on him. But kept flailing with no control...or held the ropes for support. Bad decision. ------- Meanwhile, Sonny times more short hooks well - more punishment . Would be better training for him to go more rounds and just land clean punches - avoiding all the crap stuff - but he's on track , anyway. There's better NZ heavyweights he can fight next time ( not Tua, Cameron - who he'd lose to ). And yes , he does have a longer term future /potential in boxing. The ingredients are there, willing to learn , top coach.
