Why are we third fattest in the OECD?

Why does the current trend show NZ's obesity rate rising?

The Health Care Data 2009 report, by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, shows New Zealand has the third highest rate of obesity out of the 30 nations surveyed.

The report states that 26.5 percent of our adult population was obese in 2007. That figure was 25 in 2003 and 18 percent in 1997, reports the Herald.

What is to blame for our obesity?

Whats wrong with being fat? Health costs? how much money is spent on sports injuries or other outdoor activities requiring rescue? Buzz off out of peoples lives. It is their right to live their life as they see fit or unfit as the case may be.We all only have one life,to proselytise or browbeat people on how to live their lives is demeaning and degrading to highest degree!

1. Driving is seen as more of a 'right' than walking. It is a privilege. Just go to the mall and you'll see people tussling with one another to find THE NEAREST park to the mall entrance. Some wait to save themselves a 50m walk! It's pathetic NZ.

2. People are lazy with their eating habits. They mistake being worn-out from work for being "too tired to cook something decent". Packet crap meals prevail and before you know it = diabetes!

3. Alcohol is more socially acceptable than fruit.

Get active about it NZ!
