Is 13 years and eight months, for the murder of Carmen Thomas, a long enough sentence?
Brad Callaghan was handed the sentence last week at the Auckland High Court. The engineer killed and dismembered Ms Thomas in 2010, before ditching her body parts in the Waitakere Ranges.
RadioLIVE reporter Helen Castles this morning spoke to Ms Thomas' aunt Carolyn Lavagna about the sentence. Ms Lavagna told us that the family will never find closure knowing that Callaghan will serve less than fourteen years for his crime.
Should there be a tougher minimum sentence for murder?
