What do you make of the new Auckland City Council logo?

Auckland City Logo
Do you like the new Auckland City logo? The winning entry for the Supercity's emblem has been chosen, with the judges going for a stylised pohutukawa design submitted by retired commercial artist Jim Dean, of Manukau City. The judges said the logo fitted the brief of being "compelling, elegant and compact".

Art consultant Hamish Keith has cited several reasons for favouring the design including:

• It fits the prescription of being concise, elegant and compelling.
• It is not a stereotype.
• It is an image to which all Aucklanders can relate.
• It evokes the geography of the region.
• It is flexible and can be adapted to a variety of uses – from vehicle doors to shoulder patches, letterheads, signs and bin markers.
• It has high readability.
• It provides the new council, if they wish, with an official flower.

How do you feel about the design?

I think it is a great logo, but am also confused about the 3 on one page. I think top left, coloured with the water is the best - come on Auckland get on the page

It's actually only an Auckland Council logo, it's not actually (and was never intended to be) a logo for Auckland itself.

I must say, I'm a little confused. Is it one of the three logos (my favourite is top right) or is it all three logos together to make up one logo???

Reminds me of the Thames Water logo... http://www2.cege.ucl.ac.uk/EngD/TW%20logo.jpg

It's a bit bland. However I quite like the lack of the stereotypical bridge, tower and Rangitoto.
