How have you chosen to take Paul Henry's doctors remark?

TVNZ has apologised after Breakfast host Paul Henry remarked that overseas-trained doctors can't be as good as those trained here. The complaint was laid by Ian Powell, Executive Director of the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists, also a guest on the programme.

The segment ran as follows:
Paul: Well, these immigrants can't be as good as our doctors...
Pippa: Well...
Paul: Or they would...
Pippa: They haven't been trained in the same way.
Paul: They would stay overseas wouldn't they? They would stay overseas...
Pippa: Well...
Paul: If there's an opportunity to make more money overseas.
Pippa: Lifestyle choice for them to be here though.
Paul: Yeah, yeah. Very complicated.

Are you tiring of Paul Henry or the people who lay complaints against him?

I will never tire of Paul Henry. I am very tired of the people who complain about him. I really think we need him back at Radio Live, to balance out the racist Willie Jackson.I am really tired of him. I have never heard the word Pakeha used so often in my life, since Wille came on the station. We need people who are interesting to listen to, not broken records. When Willie is on his own he is so boring, he wouldn't survive alone. I think you should seperate those two and put Willie on with Michael Laws and John on his own. I wouldn't turn off if you did that. What good listening that would be.

We Need more presenters and commentators like Paul Henry if only to pursue open and honest debate. Like henry, Is Freedom of Speech only for non caucasion radical countries. New Zealand lost a great opportunity today to tell India and the world that in New Zealand we have Freedom of Speech which is limited only by burining of effigies and incitements of death or violence, unless of course you happen to be of a race that propogates such acts openly and supportively. People who get hurt by comments should harden up and learn the western poem which starts "Sticks and Stones"

If that obese, slug of a GG had any decency, he'd come on the show and demonstrate in true, laidback kiwi fasion just how much of a kiwi he is by having a bit of a laugh about it. Let's all harden up and get over this nonsense.

He mentions no race, no culture, no religion. The only distinction he makes is, overseas training compared to New Zealand training. For a Dr to be compared to a New Zealand one, obviously the criteria of value is, serving the New Zealand patient. Paul contends overseas Drs are not as good, and he is clearly , patently obviously, correct. He also points out a bit of logic, that no really highly trained Dr would need to come to New Zealand. Top Drs in any country, are employed gainfully there, or seek high paid positions in the USA, or Canada, or Japan, etc. High standards of training equate to high value. American university research establishments and research hospitals get the highest trained professionals, because they PAY more, and also because the work is more challenging and rewarding. We pay less, we get the leavings of the worlds training colleges. QED

Paul is not the problem...he is great....he needs someone with a bit of intellect to move the discussion forward. "well, yeah, yeah. It is complicated"....is not exactly setting the discussion alight!!
Please, TVNZ, bring Ali to the "Breakfast Table" with Paul for some great entertainment and meaningfull discussion!!!

I think Paul shuld start an ultra-right wing party...breakfast tv is giving him a forum to put our views into every home in NZ, and there's nothin the pc clowns can do about it. Now take it one step further and take on paliament. Paul is above the law and it is so funny! He can attack the immagrunts and retards and all others who don't conform to how our NZ should be!!!
