Welcome to Alex & Hamish’s Extreme Home Renovation Project! Over the next couple of months we’re going to transform this 1960’s kiwi house that was renovated in the 1970’s (check out the bathroom!) and hasn’t been touched since. It needs EVERYTHING done, from the garden being landscaped to the roof being fixed, the outside painted, a few new windows, 2 new bathrooms and a new kitchen. And that’s just the start of it! Take a look at the gib that needs re-doing and the carpets that need to come up...the list goes on!

Listen to Design & Build every Sunday over Autumn as Alex and Hamish talk you through the process of totally renovating a house. The budget is tight and we want to show you how you can bring your house into the year 2010 without spending too much money. You won’t see us put in a $70,000 kitchen – we’re going to make it ‘real’ and do all the work so it is in keeping with the average person’s budget, the style of property and the surrounding area. OK, so we plan to turn it into the best house on the street, but then we are ambitious!

Across the Extreme Home Renovation Project, we’ll take photos and video of each stage and enlist the help of experts (many of whom have been guests on the show in the past) to give us a hand and show us how the job should be done. We’ll look at the various products available and choose the ones that are a combination of Hamish’s design wish-list and Alex’s budget conscious DIY mind.
