Cars in holes
By bobberesford.com

And now - a song for Christchurch....what it really needs - To be sung with much emotion.... Verse 1 __ My My ! an earthquake struck but we shall not surrender __ Oh No ! there's cracks in roads and pools of mud and buildings falling down __ The people are all in despair __ But what could be saving this town ?? - - __ __ Portaloo ! - that's the new place to be going to __ Portaloo ! - we're urgently waiting and so confused __ Portaloo ! - couldn't escape if I wanted to __ Portaloo ! - all that I need is a Portaloo - Whoa - whoa -whoa -whoa - Portaloo ! - better just get me a Portaloo ( trademark registered ) __ __ Verse 2 __ Oh no ! - I held the urges back but they grew stronger __ Oh Yeah ! - the feelings came but water's off and sewers have gone down __ It seemed there was no end in sight __ But then it arrived in the night ! - - - __ __ Portaloo ! - there it was, standing outside my door __ Portaloo ! - wanted to use it for evermore __ Portaloo ! - shiny green plastic and moveable __ Portaloo ! - no finer place than a Portaloo - Whoa -whoa -whoa -whoa Portaloo ! - all that I want is a Portaloo ( trademark registered...again ) ___ __ Instrumental break - - Interlude/bridge - But when there is no time to lose - __ You might just be waiting in queues ! --- __ __ And now...Verse 3 __ I've got ! - a Portaloo that I will not surrender _ Oh Yeah - it's green and has a door that locks and seat that folds right down _ And when you take off in a rush _ You know that you don't have to flush !- - - __ __ Portaloo - portable toilets have got more soul _ Portaloo - now I don't have to go dig a hole _ Portaloo - right down the street there's a line of them _ Portaloo - that's when relief is sublime again _Whoa - whoa -whoa -whoa - Portaloo - can't stay away from my Portaloo. We are all thinking of people in Christchurch and need you to know you all have our support you have made me so proud to be a kiwi it will get better.
I have watched the pictures with the rest of New Zealand and held my breath waitng for miracales and seen the human spirit in your community pick itself up and dust itself off.
I have lstened to the reports on the news of the extreme minority take advantage of the situation and thought what scum and for peope who do this to people who need a hand up not another kick they will get thiers.Today I read an article in the herald about a yung man arrested for looting ght bulbs and a light switch and the fact he had been locked up then I read he had aspergers a form of Autism I have a son with aspergers and I know what is like to see someone with such a compulsive disorder they cannot walk two feet without fixating on something at this time when we are seeing such humanity punish the guilty but let us understand this persons compulsive disorder would be even more intense due to his anxiety after the quake can you imagine with such a compulsion like a piece of steel being drawn to a magnet.
My wife and I recently attended a course run by Autism New Zealand what an eye opener it is easier for us to live in there world than for them to live in ours the statistics are at least one in one hundred children will have a form of aspergers please show this young man some humanity and understanding the fact that he is still in jail does not sit well with me and in this case forgiveness and understanding in a time of crisis would speak volumes.

When I visited New Zealand a few years back, I fell in love with your country. Just the other day I was scanning my slides of that journey, among them one of the Christchurch cathedral, and it absolutely broke my heart to see it collapsed. I guess this was the final straw that made me realize the scope of the devastation.

I wish the people of Christchurch the courage and strength to get through this and to come out even stronger! You are in my thoughts!
