Saturday January 23 2010

11:30am - Environews
Entomologist and curator of the Central Otago Museum in Alexandra, Brian Patrick is utterly passionate about the special ecology of Central Otago. He walks us through a seemingly dead salt-pan and describes how Central Otago is in fact a biodiversity hotspot, with more species per square metre than forest parks.

Click here to view Graeme's photo gallery of the salt-pan walk.

We also have a copy of his gorgeous book, “Wild Central” to give away to one lucky listener.

12:30pm - Science report with Vicky Hyde

Sunday January 24 2010

10:30am How dead pigs can help with criminal forensics. It’s a stinking job but scientist Rachel Parkinson is helping solve serious crimes.

11:10am Renowned Geologist Dr. Hamish Campbell answers your questions on Earthquakes global, and local. Call 0800 RADIOLIVE (0800 723 465).

1 - 2pm Nick Sampson of the Netherworld Dancing Toys has produced a compilation of what he reckons is the greatest Kiwi Rock ‘n Roll from 1964 to 1972. We play a whole bunch and we also have 5 copies of “Come Fly With Me” to give away.
