Faulty breast implants leave silicone behind in woman's body

Australian Beck Kowalski has been left with a permanent reminder of her former breast implants... a small amount of silicone in her lymph nodes.

Pain and night sweats resulted in her having her implants replaced in 2006, but some of the leaked silicone from her Poly Implant Prostheses (PIP) still remains, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

French authorities last month advised 30,000 women have their implants removed, the British government has also offered to pay for removal of such implants.

Ms. Kowalski, a 34-year-old single mother, told the paper the Australian government should be offering more support to women with such implants.

"Overseas all the women are getting support … but we get bugger all," she said.
