Maggie Barry is a board member of Outward Bound, Patron of Hospice NZ, Patron of Alzheimers Wellington and immediate Past Chair of the NZ Book Council. In 1996 she was awarded the ONZM (OBE) for services to broadcasting and won the award for senior feature writer for magazines in the 2009 Qantas awards. For 25 years Maggie Barry has been has been one of New Zealand’s most consummate writers and broadcasters.
Maggie was just 24 when she was appointed to co-host National Radio’s breakfast show with Geoff Robinson, a measure of what a natural and superb broadcaster she is.
Currently, Maggie Barry lives in Auckland with her 11 year old son and enjoys windsurfing, rollerblading and walking the dog.
