Paul Henry chooses his Aussie screensaver
By Duncan Wilson
A pretty big day was marked in broadcasting history yesterday as technophobic broadcaster Paul Henry selected, settled upon and left in place his very own computer screensaver. Reportedly, all by himself.
According to an insider, the 51-year-old's success with the computer machine was met with a pat on the back from two by-standing colleagues, before the tea lady wheeled out several bottles of expensive champagne to mark the occasion.
Further investigation into the event revealed that it was actually a desktop image the self-confessed Luddite had set up and not his screensaver at all.
The image chosen to sit on Paul's desktop for the first term of his career as Channel Ten's Breakfast host is that of a koala. A well-known Australian marsupial.
One random New Zealander we spoke to remarked: "It outrages me to think that a person who is New Zealand born and bred would opt to have a koala bear on their computer desktop. He might as well have gone for the kicker and put Julia Gillard up there!"
Paul Henry Drive returns soon to RadioLIVE.
