Felix Baumgartner has jumped from more than 39km to secure the world records for the highest successful parachute jump and the fastest human free-fall. Baumgartner made the ascent in a helium-filled balloon, before jumping off and free-falling for 4:20. Red Bull Stratos, the team behind the stunt, estimates the Austrian hit a top speed of 1,342.8 km/h before opening his parachute. Baumgartner says he plans to settle down with his girlfriend and fly helicopters for mountain rescue and firefighters.
