Enduring a 4:19 freefall, touching at mach 1.24, Felix Baumgartner broke several records for his jump in Roswell New Mexico. Using a special balloon and sealed capsule to ascend to 39,045m, the skydiving expert then jumped. Watched by an audience of millions around the globe, the Red Bull Stratos project broke recorded for the highest ever manned balloon flight, the highest ever skydive and the first person to break the sound barrier unassisted. Baumgartner reached a maximum speed of 1,137 km/h during his freefall, before opening his chute and drifting seamlessly to the ground.
