Totally agree, the best contribution Rodney could make is by putting travel rorts on the 3 strikes list, that would be a positive contribution to society.
Nothing wrong with considered punishment to a complex issue, but judge each case on the facts and look at the overseas lessons, the safest societies are those that do not rely solely on punishment, ie scandanavian countries a third of our imprisonment. Look at the sucess of justice reinvestment in Texas when the prison system bankrupted them. In comparision look at California, crime going through the roof, bankrupt, highest and most violent reoffending at 705. Me I vote for commonsense, not the ignorance of Garret and co.
