Remember these? They're animated gifs. Once a primitive, but vital method of animating anything on the internet, these little creatures soon became obsolete as swifter technologies became available.
Now, largely thanks to social network sites and their avatars, the little movers are seeing a resurgence.
Used also to create web phenomena known as "memes", the animations usually feature a short piece on a loop. They can carry a message, or they can be totally pointless.
The London Olympics, of course, provided a plethora of fun for the gif animators who lurk online. Here are ten of our favourites:
Boris Johnson and David Cameron get jiggy with it at the Olympics Closing Ceremony.
American Claressa Shields gets medal, does happy dance
If you trampoline, you must do it infinitely
Prankster Usain Bolt
Crazy fan: Every team should have one
The Fast And The Furious (Table Tennis)
Nick "I Look Like Zack Morris from Saved By The Bell" Delpopolo
The judge's jaw drops
Best friends forever
McKayla Maroney defying gravity
