One of the country's longest running business education programmes for school students notched up its 30th anniversary event recently. It’s estimated more than 50,000 students have participated in its flagship programme the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) since it was first launched in 1981.
The programme involves students forming a company and then producing a product of their choosing while adhering to all the usual disciplines required of any business such as writing detailed plans, managing proper accounting systems and even holding monthly board meetings.
In this interview Young Enterprise Trust CEO Terry Shubkin discuss the important role the programme plays introducing students to business and entrepreneurialism and we hear from two of the members of the winning team, Bill Qui and Teresa Wong about the innovative business they created PLUS Coffee Soaps.
