I received an increased rateable value of $210,000.00 the same day I got a realestate agent ofering to market the property for between $165 and $195,000.00. I am not sure what the current government value is but I can only imagine my market value would drop further if I had a "wet house" in my neighbourhood. It also disgusts me that those organising this have chosen not to consult with neighbours until after they have gained consent to proceed, a typical tactic being deployed all over the country where "community consultation" is required by law. If these guys are drying out there will be no drunks in the streets, if they are still focused on drinking then perhaps investing in a hostel for them in the CBD would be a more appropriate spend of monies and provide more opportunity for temporary accommodation for more people in need.

"Which would you prefer next door to you: Eight alcoholic homeless vagrants or a member of the Destiny Church?"

Who thinks up these silly questionaires with silly choices?

a: would you rather live next to something really undesirable? or
b: would you rather live next to something really undesirable?

Hmm... that's a toughy...

Of course these wet houses should be placed well away from normal residential areas, but so too should Destiny members. At least with the drunks there's only eight of them, the Destiny guy potentially has 100's of similarly deluded mates popping round for visits.

I married an alcholic although I did not know it at the time.
2 social workers do not know much about alcoholics or they would not be going there. They will be cleaners and picker uppers and in my opinion may not last very long there. My alcoholic piddled in Lounge chairs, the childrens drawers,Wardrobes , mats, and lots of other places..and never failed to miss the toilet bowl. When drunk,he did not know where he was and did not care.Mine had no morals He also drove drunk and crashed every car we owned. How he did not kill himself I do not know( pity is that he didn't)They do not enhance anyones life or environment, and how the do gooders can think of putting them in a residential street is just very ignorant of them. They really need to think of everyone else before they try and do something as stupid as this.Of course they need to be looked after but make it in a place further away from suburbia.
