The THING... what the hell is this?

The THING. Help Graeme Hill identify the THING.

By Graeme Hill

After my father died 10 years ago we sorted through his workshop. I know sons often lack perspective about how good fathers were at things, but I’m safe in saying he was a serious craftsman, especially in leatherwork.

There was one thing in the workshop that none of our family or friends have been able to identify: The THING.

Trademark clues show my father made it from scratch, for certain, and seemingly for a purpose but none of us ever saw it in use.

A decade of scratching our heads is enough. Now I’m asking if you can help. Have you seen anything like it? What could it be? HELP!
