There’s a saying in sports journalism, heavy on the irony and laced with menacing humour.
It’s “No Pressure”.
As in … “hey a HUGE bulletin coming up at 7 am. All Blacks team announced, Olympic 2016 host city named and update on the Black Caps’ Champions League semi-final. And the bosses will all be listening. No pressure”.
Well it’s pretty obvious there’s huge pressure, but it’s a media way of over-stressing the importance of the next 45 minutes in your journalistic career.
Now we’ve got this flash new RadioLIVE web page.
It’s big on sport and news content – with a huge potential for growth. This is impressive. It’s easy to navigate and will generate thousands of hits from the sports-savvy and sports-interested out there in Cyber Ville.
Sport – and news – are THE major drawcards for logging-on to a web page.
All of my colleagues, friends and relatives check out well-resourced, accurate, user-friendly, up-to-date web pages for their daily sports hit on line.
The likes of the BBC, Cricinfo, Stuff and FoxSports are leaders for those very reasons
If you’re on holiday in Cambodia, you make a point of escaping the suffocating humidity to find a room with a fan and a dial-up connection to check out the latest sporty stuff on your trusted sites. Now www.radiolive.co.nz will be added the list.
People all round the country and with New Zealand connections offshore will be checking out this page as their list of faves. And naturally they will be sussing out the witty and incisive commentaries on the Sport BLOG to supplement their hunger for fresh sports news.
That’s my job.
No pressure.
