Taxi driver murder should re-open old debate

Taxi drivers are very concerned after a fatal attack on one of their drivers.

They are looking at government assistance to put security shields and cameras in their cars. The taxi industry says many drivers need assistance for this as they are leading a hand to mouth existence at the moment.

So there you have it: Taxi drivers fearing for their safety, living a hand to mouth existence and getting murdered – while unable to afford to make their cabs safe.

Is it not time that we revisited the disaster that was the deregulation of the taxi industry?
