Subject: TEAM NZ in GREAT RICKSHAW RACE!
Hey Andrew & Karen - I would be extremely grateful if you gave a little air to the HUGE charity event me & my team are in from Jan1 2010 :
Darryl, Glen & Wal - Team Rickshaw RuNZ.
www.justgiving.com/runzI with my brother and friend are about to embark on what could be a difficult adventure / journey for a well deserving charity.
- RICKSHAW RUN Jan 1 2010 !
We are racing 74 other teams in a 150cc auto-rickshaw from central Nepal, down the entire Indian sub continent. I believe we are the only NZ team.
Our main charity is MAITI NEPAL - a small but dedicated organisation that rescues and rehabilitates Nepali girls, some as young as six, who have been trafficked into the sex trade.
www.maitinepal.orgThe other official charity = MercyCorps, a team who exists to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities.

Namaste,
My brother Glen, friend Wal Gray and I have been accepted into the Winter Rickshaw Run 2010, what will be a highly adventurous event to raise funds for some of the world’s most vulnerable people.
The race will have us driving a three wheeled auto-rickshaw down the entire length of the Indian subcontinent against 74 other teams from around the globe. It starts on January 1, 2010 in Pokhara, central Nepal, and ends 16 days later on the coast in Cochin, Southern India. For further general information, the event's website is;
http://rickshawrun.theadventurists.com/This could be difficult – but in the finest Kiwi tradition, we are going to give it a crack! Our team is called RickshawRuNZ, it is as far as I know the only New Zealand team. Our team page is found at:
http://rickshawrun10w.theadventurists.com/rickshawrunzWe are raising funds for two official charities:
1 Maiti Nepal, a small but dedicated organisation that rescues and rehabilitates Nepali girls, some as young as six, who have been trafficked into the sex trade.
www.maitinepal.org2 MercyCorps, a team who exists to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities.
Rickshaw RuNZ’s race will be covered in daily columns for readers of www.stuff.co.nz. The idea is to generate online readers who can follow our rickshaw on the go, complete with maps and photos to chart our progress – for good and bad. Online readers can also be quickly linked to sponsor's sites and to our charity site:
www.justgiving.com/runzAny help in spreading the word of our efforts would be greatly appreciated, and of course any contributions to our charities we are extremely grateful for:
www.justgiving.com/runz- credit cards accepted here at this UK run charity site. We are also directly accepting donations for those who are unfamiliar with or unwilling to use websites for donating. (details can be obtained from myself).
Thank you for your time.
PS - We are still seeking a sponsors to help with the costs of this event, so any help in this area would also be most appreciated. We are yet to issue exclusive naming rights for the rickshaw!
Kind Regards,
Darryl
