Supreme Pie Award winner 2011

The 2011 Bakels Pie Awards came to surprise conclusion on Tuesday night as Shane Kearns' Gourmet Fruit pie took out the Supreme Pie Award.

Hailing from Viands Bakery in Te Awamutu, Shane and Kathy Kearns took the Gold Award for the Gourmet Fruit category with their mix of Spiced Plum, Port and Apple.

The Gold Award for the Commercial/Wholesale was taken by Murray Swetman of Gourmet Foods Ltd.

The wins will mean massive increases to their trade, while pie-lovers the country-over can enjoy their work knowing these are the best pies they can buy.
