Remove all children of school age who are not attending schools and place in foster homes or elsewhere immediately, as far away from the so called parents as possible, and prosecute their parents for neglect.

Wow what if they do take kids away from parents and place them elsewhere? Under current legislation this will mean that the kids are under the authority of the government. My question is if these children were still truant will the government punish itself, fine itself, jail itself? What would it do? An answer to this needs to be without fines. Maybe one of the things that could be done is to lead by example. This would mean that all politicians of all parties would have to stop lying, stop scheming, act morally as well as legally, stop looking for loopholes to get themselves out of the crap and basically become upfront and take full responsibility for their own actions. Until this is achieved it is a bit rich to expect the youth of this country to behave any differently. After all it is the leaders both past and present that have set and have maintained the culture of this country for the rest of us to hold up as a great example to follow. At the end of the day politicians will reap what they sow and the rest of us will get what we get what we deserve.

bev They have been contacting the parents of the kids concerned and discussing why truancy has been happening since the 80s it Doesn't work.. I guess the parents think its the governments problem and and leave it up too the schools and the government too sort out... Sadly its not the government nor the schools that will be sitting on the low income bracket or DPB benefit for the rest of there lives... Is it... At the end of the day parents need too do what non truant parents do and take care of there own kids....

If schools funding is based on how many enrolled students attend everyday, the schools will have to think of ways to keep their kids in class.

How the hell are parents going to pay fines for the children playing truant when it is hard enough to feed ones family on the poor wages the majority of people are getting. If this becomes mandatory then this will be an added stress to an already stressful existence many families have. A better idea would be to contact the parents and the kids concerned and discuss why this is happening. If a school has many kids that are truant they could combine these kids to one class room. That way attendance will be noted or not, and perhaps a change in environment may stimulate the kid into learning. At the end of the day the government needs to be up front and tell the public what their priority is. Is it to focus on the education of young people or is it to generate income. Perhaps a reward system for these kids could be arranged where if they say what their learning needs are and improve accordingly then they may get help with a scholarship to further their education.

sarah... No I don't... But if I did have kids.. And they brought me home a 300 dollar fine... I would make sure they done house work or got a part time job too pay it or I would seek help so that would not happen again... This way the kids would be responsible too me!!! And that is the way it should be... It just seems a better starting point too me than just taking the kids off parents/gardening's.... That would Solves nothing in my mind.. But make them more rebellious against the state and maybe there parents as well...
