Should the 'Beast of Blenheim' stay in prison?

Do we need to bring in retrospective legislation to keep Stewart Murray Wilson, the so-called 'Beast of Blenheim', in prison?

Wilson was jailed in 1996 for a string off sexual offences against women and children. His crimes spanning a quarter of a century include rape, indecent assault, wilful ill-treatment of a child and bestiality.

The Parole Board denied him release in 2008 and he had a review on October 17 this year, where he was ruled 'high risk'. Despite the likelihood that he will re-offend, he will still be released on September 1 2012.

Should the government look for ways to keep this man in jail?

Tieboat I don't think anyone believes he should get a second chance. The Parole Board who released him basically said he didn't and he was a huge huge risk to the community and very very likely to reoffend but that their hands were tied by current New Zealand law because bascially he cannot under law be kept in prision any longer than he has. Which is pathetic since it's not even the 21 stated years but that's how it works in New Zealand the stated sentence is never the actual sentence. Don't ask me why.

One thing that is never even mentioned in this article is that he forcibly enslaved women for years. Kidnapped and enslaved them, drugged them and tortured, beat and abused them for years. That isn't mentioned along with all the other things. And why can't they force him to provide a DNA sample for the murder of Teresa Cormack??? Shouldn't anyone have to do that when it's a murder investigation? I guess not but that's pathetic. He is supposed to be 4 times more likely to offend, Doesn;t care about the terms of his release, won't discuss or admit his guilt. There is no way he should be being released.
