with a 120 politician's in this country there don't appear to be many with common sense. We are a Nation that breeds our own problems. NZ is a soft country, and the world knows it. Criminals should get nothing - not new "motel type suites" for cells. Change the penal system - we might not need more prisons if we go back to tough love and hard labour.

JTFAN I agree with your statement but yoy missed out an important word that is "NOT". They do NOT qualify for workers (or potential workers) accident compensation!

Criminals are bad people and society has punished them by putting them out of circulation and in prisons. They are no longer tax payers (some never have been) but they are a burden to Tax Payers as we finance them to have shelter, clothing and food. i.e. we pay them to have their basic needs satisfied. It is the PC BS'ters that now lets them have heated cells, LCD TV's and it would seem still have all the perks such as cell phones, drugs if they are sneaky and have mates on the outside.ACC is a workers compensation package. Criminal do not work! They do qualify for workers (or potential workers) accident compensation.

Hi Chris, what a silly childish comment. Taxes go to far more things than just ACC. And Mr Burton was in prison when he escaped and caused his damage. You may also find statistically that criminals who get ACC were not paying taxes.

If criminals can't claim ACC, I presume they are excluded from paying taxes to prop up that inefficienttax vacuum that is ACC.
Hey JaaybeeIsn't the key to the ACC the word 'accident'? When peolpe like Graeme Burton get injured, it's no accident. When you're attempting to kill someone and you get injured that's not an accident. Because if he wasn't already breaking the law in about 100 different ways he never would have been injured to require treatment. Why don't we get him a trip to Disneyland too? That might cheer him up, after all he did lose a leg didn't he?

It doesn't really matter - most working people here are immigrants (Chinese, Indian etc.) with the number of Kiwis decreasing year on year. (Working age people except for those with non-transferable skills such as teacher are steadily emigrating. So it's important to look around and understand that NZ as it once was no longer exists. It's deceptive to watch the politicos on the news - they are an established white elite - but the majority of working age white people are gone or going...
