Should Afghani interpreters be offered asylum here?

Should 26 Afghani interpreters, who have served loyally alongside NZ forces, be offered the opportunity to settle here if their lives are at risk?

Labour leader David Shearer says we should do right by these people.

"These guys have done a very good service," he told RadioLIVE's Miles Davis.

"They risked their lives on our behalf... and we should be showing them the same sort of respect and care of duty that they showed to us during their time with us."

The government has not yet stated what offer, if any, will be made to locals who have assisted our servicemen during the conflict.

Should they be granted asylum in New Zealand?
