Racism

Subject: racism

Michael, if anybody wants to see racism they should try being white & growing up in a community made up of 99% maori, it was difficult at the time being ridiculed for the colour of my skin & they were bloody ruthless Michael but guess what? I got over it. Its about time maori stopped pulling out the racist card & they are failing as a race because so many of them are lazy! My adoptive father is maori, he teaches maori at secondary school & he is embarrassed almost on a daily basis on how think & downright useless some members of his community are, its time some of these maori took real pride in their race & got off their asses & make something of themselves instead of constantly dweelling on the past.
Cheers Michael
Dion

Michael says:
Good on you, mate.
It's not race that determines success/failure but individual application & hard work.
Cheers
Michael

Dear Michael Laws and co, it has come to my attention that you express very Racist viewpoints and often lead your stories with derogatory remarks towards Maori people. This is not an acceptable way to conduct yourself in a public forum. Therefore I will be undertaking a Human Rights Tribunal complaint against your organization.

I am a 20-yr old Maori born in the Far North...

No one needs to own the fore-shore. God gave it to us all to enjoy. If Hone wants to help Maori, he could try and put a stop to Maori youth crime and Maori abusing their children. Hone, do you know or care how many Maori children are in care, taken from bad parents? I do, and it is scary.

Tourists robbed at the Falls in Whangarei, again, Maori. When you talk about Hone's followers, why not try talking to Maori who work and who do not spend all day in pubs and playing the pokies.

Hone talks about Maori health and education being at the bottom of the scrap heap.

I stayed at school and got a degree. I have looked at an old school photo. I am one of two Maori to do this. All the rest dropped out, eight got pregnant, most smoked. Hone, this was their choice. Did their families care? No way. You can't blame Pakeha and the government for everything.

Stop spoon-feeding Maori, Far North Maori have turned into whining "you owe me" no hopers...

I am a 20-yr old Maori born in the Far North.

I am sick and tired of Hone Harawira saying he is speaking for all North Maori. Like a lot of my friends, we are not Hone Harawira fans. His mother say's he has always been a leader. No way is he a leader. A leader is someone who can see both sides. Hone is just all for anything Maori.

Look, when his Nephew assaulted the Prime Minister, right away Hone stated "He's a fine young man". No Hone, he acted like a thug. You would have got my and a lot of other people's respect if you had spoken out against the attack. How verbal would you have been if a Pakeha had attacked our Maori King?

My Grandmother was a very proud Maori woman, her view was the Maori Party was not needed, we are all simply Kiwis..

There is a Statute of Limitations on most grievances; why does it not apply to the Treaty? We have Pakeha & Maori blended happily in our family. My grandmother used to listen to the "I want it's" as she called them, and told me "If you are going to to live in the past, you will never be a part of the future".

For goodness sake when are some people going to wake up. Im a 54year old grandmother with two grandsons. One has maori blood and other doesnt. My daughters partner was raized by a maori step mum and has 4 part maori brothers but he is pakeha. I feel lucky to be part of a culturally blended family. We all show respect for each others differences. One thing is for sure both of my grandsons will be encouraged to get the best education they can and work for the wages they earn. New Zealand is still a great little country to live in and as long as the few radicals who seem hell bent on dividing us by race or religion arnt allowed to gain any real foothold New Zealand will remain a great country to live in. Some maori are focusing on the wrong things. Perhaps if they let the Waitangi Tribunal deal with the wrongs of the past and concentrated on why many maori have problems with education, employment, a high crime rate, poor parenting and high child abuse numbers they might start making some progress because when the Waitangi Tribunal in all finished these problems arent magically going to go away. Blaming pakehas wont help either. I cant change the past but Im working to change the future in my little family and I suggest that if we put all this racism aside and work on the real issues we might make some real progress. The people in my family with maori blood will get the same opportunities as those without and being part maori will not be an excuse for failure.

In response to Dion Riini, there was a time in New Zealand when non -Maori were outnumbered 100 to 1 by Maori, but with the aid of muskets, the passing of various laws and illegal confiscations of Maori lands, the newcomers asserted dominance. As Midnight Oil put it, 'the time has come to pay the rent'.

I do wish you would stop mouthing off about the English people:
Anyone with an ounce of common sense must surely know that no individuals because of their countries of origin are either whingers or whiners:

It has to be remembered that for centuries, the English have fought for freedom and fairness which has now been passed down to you to enjoy through anglo Saxon law:, so when you hear the English complaining please accept it as their right to do so as it is also your right to do so, that is what democracy is all about: Whether or not you take up the option to whinge and whine is neither here or there but the choice to do so is your right:

By the way Michael, using your own background, every disparaging remark you make about the English falls backwards to your own ancestors who were in the main ENGLISH:

By all means have a go at the English when and where it ia warranted, but you seem to make it your main ambition in life:

Remember Michael, without balance you are bound to lean either to the right or the left and if you lean too far you will eventually fall over:

New zealand is probably the best place in the world to live, in spite of it's economics and politics, I had lived in the Netherlands for almost 40 years and now, for the last 2 years, live in the United States.

Looking at the racial problems of both these countries leads me to believe that New Zealand has much less to worry about racially, The Maori and Pakeha are better integrated than the Maroccans Turks and others within the Netherlands and with much less political strife, the different nationalities within the United States are causing much more unrest than the equivalent groups within New Zealand, I would offer the opinion that New Zealand is still a paradise in the Pacific and with better understanding between the different groups it would become the number one country for peace and contentment, Kiwis alaways had the reputation of being able to all pull together, so, come on New Zealand, put your backs into it and Pull together, both Maori and Pakeha, Pacific Islanders and Asians..... everybody in New Zealand is, after all is said and done, a New Zealander in spite of what he or she looks like .
Rick Williams.

To all these Laws slammers who think he is racist get up and smell the roses, personally I cant stand him he is arrogant and petulent but he is by no means a racist,he gets up and tells it as it is, and people dont like it. So get over it people,at least he has the guts to tell the truth so I give him respect for that even if he is a total prick.
