Arguably, Marcus Lush has created a new style of broadcasting in New Zealand. It is a way of talking about the country by observing the small, unique details of our history, geography and culture. They are observations infused with humour and respect.
While Marcus has traversed the full range of New Zealand’s broadcasting landscape, it is his documentary programmes that have captured the imagination of many New Zealanders. His “Intrepid Journey” to Russia was a stand out in the series. This was followed by “Off The Rails,” following the main trunk line around New Zealand. The series was the top rated show on New Zealand television in 2004. Next came “Ice” in 2007, a documentary series on the Antartic.
His latest series, “South” is an interesting and well documented look at Southland, New Zealand.
He has now taken his unique powers of observation back to talk radio, hosting the nationwide breakfast show on RadioLIVE. Together with leading news presenter and journalist Hilary Barry, Marcus gives New Zealanders a fresh start each day in an informed and good natured way.
