Post quake fraud big issue

interest.co.nz Managing Editor Bernard Hickey tells RadioLIVE's Marcus Lush A Deloitte expert has warned of the huge potential for fraud in the Christchurch rebuild as billions of dollars of funds flows quickly into the city. Construction was a particularly risky industry with potential for backhanders, price fixing and cosy subcontracting arrangements on big capital projects. The Serious Fraud Office has even considered setting up an office there. It is already investigating a fraud that could be worth up to NZ$250 mln.
