Wellington's famous Backbencher pub has caught fire... again.
Less than four months since being gutted by the first fire, the famous drinking hole has required the aid of six fire engines and a hazardous materials truck to make-safe the area following this second blaze.
The pub was a frequent stop-off for booze-hound MPs, as well as being the set for former TV political cruncher Backbenchers.
RadioLIVE host Wallace Chapman, who used to host the political show on TVNZ7, said "this seriously cannot be happening. I feel like it's a punch in the stomach".
