It was all funk fans to Tauranga at the weekend as RadioLIVE proudly presented the 50th national Jazz Festival, with a special appearance from Earth, Wind and Fire on the Sunday night to mark the anniversary.
The city's streets were adorned with music, with The Strand paying host to numerous bands, all pitching their sounds in the direction of the many eateries and bars.
Later, up at the domain, RadioLIVE hosts Karyn Hay and Andrew Fagan took to the stage to kick off a monumental night. Patti Austin was first up, igniting the early crowd with a pinch of her R&B tones, accompanied by the award winning Rodger Fox and the Wellington Jazz Orchestra.
As night fell, blues singer Keb' Mo' took up the stage to delight the crowd with the tightest of sets.
Hay and Fagan then handed microphone duties over to Willie & JT, who talked up the crowd in anticipation of the headline act.
Earth, Wind and Fire hit the stage around 8.30pm and put on a crowd-pleasing show sure to please the bulk of their fans. The RadioLIVE VIP tent erupted, the mix of hosts, clients and our competition winner Lillian Tioke and family all on their feet for the duration.
The party would have continued into the night, had it not been Easter Sunday!
