PHOTOS: Mt. Tongariro cloud clears to reveal eruption aftermath
By Duncan Wilson
The cloud has cleared at Mt. Tongariro, allowing clear photos to be taken for the first time since Tuesday's eruption.
The eruption, which began in the final minutes of Monday, was Tongariro's first for 115 years.
The blast blew ash up into the air, with people in Napier claiming ash had made it to ground there. There were also reports of locals in Wellington and Hamilton being able to smell sulphur.
The guys at Adrift Outdoors set up their camera to snap these wonderful shots.
