The bodies of three soldiers killed in Afganistan arrived back on New Zealand soil this afternoon.
Lance Corporal Jacinda Baker, Corporal Luke Tamatea and Private Richard Harris were killed on Sunday by a roadside bomb.
Their families were first brought onto the plane to spend time with the bodies, before the caskets were brought off the plane as a haka was performed by army personnel.
Major John Gordon says it was a final salute for the military colleagues as a sign of respect.
"Today's a very sombre occasion, but one that is very poignant," he said.
