Hi,
My Dad carried depression with him all his life. At the age of 67, he effectively went from 16 stone to 8 stone and starved himself to death.
For those of you old enough to remember; I have slept many nights in Ward 10 at Auckland Hospital while my father was an in patient.
During the day I kept up the pretence of success as a corporate climber while inside I was dying.
The nurses would call me because my Dad refused food. He would rip out the intravenous drips keeping him alive and only allow them back while I remained by his bedside.
I was also in the theatre crying when Dad was treated with ECT.
I cannot feel his or anyone else’s pain but I can try my best to make a difference.
My father is my compelling reason for wanting to help those tormented by the invisible disease we call Mental Illness.
If you feel you can help then please kindly make a donation to my mo (tragic as it is) and have a laugh at my expense J.
All you have to do is follow the links below to my mo, click on donate and follow the instructions.
And if you can’t make a donation that’s ok too, just enjoy having a laugh at my expense.
I’ve currently raised $1,245 for this great cause.
