Michael, Oldies take up seats in the public transport system which would otherwise be empty between off peak times. (hopefully while younger people are working.) According to the TV News the operators of the transport systems make money from the Gold card by carting the oldies around. In my view any increase in fuel costs because of the above would be negligible particularly ferries and buses. The discounts on the other uses for the card are minimal. Clearly the Oldies using the Gold card are helping to stimulate the economy. Good programme. Regards Dave
