Is Tame Iti a misunderstood hero?
As the Urewera trial comes to a close, Tame Iti's defence has likened him to Nelson Mandela. “History is full of people getting half the story, having a preconception, reaching a conclusion, which is often punitive, and then regretting it,” said lawyer Russell Fairbrother.
The comparison has been met with numerous calls to "lock him up for 27-years".
Will we look upon Tame Iti differently in years to come?
