If you all think he is a very good man, then you have to take into consideration to the fact he taped her and NO woman of any age, creed or race should not have there life exploited the way she did.I have just come out a relationship with the woman that alleged him and believe me that she was indeed a victim, but of what. She has had her life turned upside down and its a wounder if she will ever get back on her feet.I just hope that one day this young man should not do any filming on anyone without there consent.

Everyone makes mistakes. I happen to know Hai pretty well, as I was a youth on one of his leadership programmes, and he's a cool dude. Why is this everyone elses business? If I must have an opinion, it's that Hai is well respected by myself and others, and he's not a sleaze, he's actually pretty cool. the chick was lying, Hai proved yet, yet it's him that's copping the crap! Gee, I wonder why New Zealand has so many expatriates living in Australia...oh, I know, it's because everyone is so friking judgemental! And all of you gutless people who haven't put your real names up as you commented on her, grow a pair please! You get to lay crap out about Hai because you know his name, but how is he to defend himself to people with no names? You all disgust me. And as for Hai being a political figure, bollocks! he's Tariana's P.A, that's about it. So don't crap on him for "considering positions which support the public vote". Hai did this on his own time with his own resources. At least he didn't pull a Shane Jones. hai, if your reading this, I got your back bro!

This raises a significant philosophical issue: Many, if not all, regard secret filming of sex to be abhorrent; but far more horrendous an act is falsely accusing a person of rape. Not only is this a serious injustice to the victim of the falsity, it immeasurably damages the credibility of all women who seek justice after being raped. NZ justice has been fundamentally compromised by the failure of police to charge the woman; and all women have been viscerably betrayed. Moreover, because of uncontextualised media coverage, overseas readers/listeners such as myself, initially miscontstrued and judged Haimona merely on the sleaze aspect; which reflected on his reputation and that of the Maori Party.

The woman filed a complaint of rape to Police, It turned out to be consensual sex regardless of what had been said or otherwise. She lied - end of story and the video taping was evidence presented by the accused. He is lucky he had had 'hard evidence' otherwise he'd be in jail now! What was her name ... oh, we don't know but the world knows his name. Lady get over it, you 'screwed up' (literally) and no... there won't be a payout??

The morning after a night of intoxicated indulgence can be very confusing and humiliating. As a man, I imagine that a woman who feels she had a sexual encounter with someone she would otherwise avoid, may feel violated or duped. However, these feelings need to be seriously weighed against the facts of the incident. To accuse someone of rape is a very serious, if not the most serious, accusation that can be made. Whether or not a person is convicted, being charged with such an offense brings about an air of guilt in the public view. In this instance, Mr Gardiner was probably aware his behavior was borderline, and if the recording was made to protect him from such allegations then maybe he should have reconsidered those actions on the night. If, however the film was made as some sort of trophy for his escapades then using it as a way to show his innocence would have been quite a hard decision as it shows a window to a very disturbed character, especially at his young age. If this is the case he probably has many more such videos as this is not likely to be an isolated incident. If any person falsely accuses another of a crime, they themselves should be guilty of a crime. This woman made allegations that could have destroyed someone. Mr Gardiner is lucky in this regard that he made the tape. Perhaps next time he does hit the record button he needs to include the words, "I am going to tape this, is that ok?" I am sure that his smooth talking is good enough to pull this one out too, he seems to be adept at gaining consent, even when hindsight would prefer otherwise.
