anyone who belives that an emmision trading scheem will reduce greenhouse gasses is an idiot...no insult intendedI ask you when this scheem comes in are you going to drive your car less??? are you going to buy the same amount of produce to eat???and is that same produce going to be packaged in the same carbon footprint plastic???are you still going to go on that overseas trip???Your all fools to think a trading scheem/scam is going to work complete idiots...again no insult intendedthe hard truth is there is six billion people in this world today and when the scheem /scam kicks in there is going to be more than that and all theese people need to eat and all theese people need to travel we will still live the same wasteful western lives we will still produce the same amounts if not more greenhouse gases...The only two ways to actually factually cut down on emissions is to loose some of our technology so we all live a more wholesum closer to the enviroment life like growing our own vege more smaller close to home produce restricting travel to only essential trips getting rid of at least half of the things in the home that so called make our life easier, remember to produce theese things also produces greenhouse gases and i know humanity will not be willing to make theese changes The second is as a world pool our resources togeather to up grade our sicence and technology as a world so it is less harmful to the enviroment and this sharing of knowledge i dont see happening either because in todays world knowledge is power, and the big countrys aint gonna share that power around.so we are left with some stupid kneejerk reaction of a trading scheem/scam just another tax to pay people, which will ultimatley make no diffrence on how i live my life my true carbon footprint aint gonna change because my life will be the same only more expensive to livethats why i say if you beleave in this scheem/scam then your a complete idiot!!!

Copenhagen is a good try but in reality it is a farce. How do they expect so many nations to agree, they won't. The fossil award outraged me, the laugh at us because we aim at a 10-20% reduction, instead of a 40% reduction. I wish we could aim for 40% but that is not possible right at the moment. There are a few reasons for that, Our emissions don't just include carbon they also include gasses like methane, our high level of livestock compared to our population mean that our emissions per capita look really bad. Now unfortunately there is little we can do now to reduce the methane produced. Now I am sure there are some areas in agriculture were carbon emissions can be reduced. I do believe that there is alot of research currently into ways to reduce methane emissions from cows. Then look at our public transport, put simply it is terrible. Govts keep putting money into roads, maybe they should have put all that into public transport. So that the trains didn't keep braking down, and our metropolitan railways had electric trains, not dirty diesels. And to all the skeptics, get over yourselves. We as humanity are using far more resources than is sustainable, and pumping huge amounts of polution into the environment. No matter what you think about what is driving the climate change that is occurring, you must remember that we need to work hard to be more sustainable. If not what will this planet be like for future generations. Then Finally, to all who say we can't afford an emissions trading scheme. Think of it this way people who buy NZ products and travel long distances to get here do it because NZ is marketed as 100% pure. If we don't sign up to emissions trading it could seriously harm our image overseas and do huge damage to our economy.

Climate change is a natural occurrance. The carbon taxes on electricity and petrol will hurt the medium low income earner, who already use minimal power and fuel, so how can they cut back? While it will not effect high income earners, as they will use as much power and petrol as they want, so this will not reduce the so called carbon footprint!

Two weeks ago, hackers stole thousands of emails between a few climate scientists--and then released cherry-picked quotes out of context, absurdly claiming that they question the science behind climate change. With big money behind it, this misinformation tactic aims to distract the media and the public. I am living in a country for over 2 years and I have experianced the global cooling. Last year, in the summer, the tempurature was around 35~37 degrees, this year the temp was pushing 33~35. The hottest period is usually 3~4 months, this year the hottest period was only 2 months. The winter is almost upon us and already the temp in the minus in some areas.

I just read a newspaper article online from the St Petersburg times, july 21 1974.It has all the same predictions of catastrophe and our impact on "climate change" predicting "1 billion could starve" and "There are unmistakable sign the Earth is cooling",it's all claptrap!.Science is full of now green leaning sociolist academics who will twist whatever data they need to just to keep the next 2 million dollar grant coming in and to suit the UN agenda. It is clear now the aim of Copenhagen is to bring about World Government and impose global taxes to reduce the standard of living in all western countries to boost the living standards of the third world.A noble goal to help the third world yes,but will it achieve that goal or will the bankers and tinpot dictators reap the lions share?,most likely.Americas has been transformed into a sociolist state in the short time Obama has been in office, the people are being pushed to the brink by a government seemingly controlled by corporates and elitists who are determined to rape the middle class and poor of what little they still have.I have heard the latest thing being considered there is to make it a criminal offence to be poor, one state even fines you $2,500 if you contested a $45 parking ticket!.What has happened??,have we woken up in the Twilight Zone??.I have read about Agenda 21,Codex and how Monsanto will probably own all the worlds crops in the near future so the only food left will be GMO.I don't like where this is going,JK is obama's lapdog hanging on his every word yet TOTALLY ignoring the wishes of the people who put him there,us!.Helen Clark is a top dog at the UN,the very organization that could soon be writing our laws for us!.I think these people are taking us for chumps,i don't wish to worship Gaia and i don't believe i have taken any DIGNITY from Africa.

The world is warming I agree, but it's been warming since the Little Ice Age in the 1600's. The rate at which the line trends upwards is entirely dependant on how scrupulously the raw data is manipluated. In many cases it's been well proven that climate "scientists" will ignore readings that don't fit the trend (ClimateGate?). I couldn't tell you how many measuring stations I've seen that are in built up areas, complete with vast areas of concrete, roofs, airconditioning outputs and the like. Do you think it's cooler in the city, a town, or an open field. How do you think the temperature was monitored 50, 100, 150 years ago? Slightly different I assure you.
