Have you made your Crafar farms decision?

Should China's Shanghai Pengxin be allowed to buy 16 Crafar farms?

Land Information Minister Maurice Williamson and Associate Finance Dr. Jonathan Coleman have given the final go-ahead on the unpopular deal.

Kiwi businessman and part of a rival consortium Michael Fay has been to court, attempting to oppose the sale. The consortium's bid of $171.5 million is believed to be so $30 million below Pengxin's bid.

Have you made your mind up on the sale?

the receivers is totally responsible for this large sale. it could have been sold as smaller farms so that kiwis could be given a chance. Mr key said we donot want to be tenants in our own land, but he is allowing foreigners to buy up prime agricultural land and farms. I can see why kiwis are moving overseas.

Personally, I don't think that any NZ land should be sold to overseas owners. If they want to buy NZ land they should move to this country, get residency and then purchase land. I know plenty of people who would like to get into farming but can because of the high prices. Our land is valuable. Other countries have stripped their land of nutrients and productivity so they come to NZ to do the same to ours.

Who didn't guess the OIO would approve the sale of Crafar farms... it stinks of government coercion. What's even more frustrating are the crys of racism towards anyone who doesn't agree with the sale to Shang Hai Pengxin Group Co. Limited. It's got nothing to do with race, it's about the sale of our land to greedy foreign corporate entities. NZ land is for kiwis no matter what race. It's no wonder the dream of owning land and a house are becoming out of the each of kiwis when it's traded as a comodity on the international maket. Shame on you John Key, shame on you IOI and shame on you kiwis for letting this happen.

the herald, points out that nz has signed ourtrade deal with china and so we should sell the assets, that is crap. why is china not selling their land? in fact there is unfair trading. 90-96% of the products in your office or house is made in china, so where is the fairness. the manipulation of their currency, look at the nz dollar. we are being affected by it. there has to be honesty, integrity and transparency.

i t should be a two way street, foreigners cannot buy land in china. businesses in china only employ chinese, so where are the jobs going to be for millions that are unemployed around the world. Kiwis are a smart and intelligent people. they should follow countries like sweden, denmark, norway, singapore with a small population. Do buiness with all countries and donot restrict to one country. people are not flocking to live in china, in fact chinese are taking citizenship in other countries. look what is happening in tibet, where the world is turning a blind eye. a big noise is made about syria, but not about china.
