I think if you can negotiate a higher salary then the previous person that proves you have a better negotiating skill then the previous person. how much was Gattungs pre-decessor paid?

However the point really is - why is the current guy still there as CEO - any other company they would have been sacked ages ago. I heard that alcatel recommended amuch more robust system which was turned down by this joker - so the buck should stop with him.

Frankly Simon Moutter should have been appointed as the CEO - he was the next in line and actually an engineer.

I am currently in the employment of telecom and have been for the last 25 years. Gattung was a terrible bully and because the Honourable Prime Minister Helen Clark re-regulated the communications industry to stop the likes of her business rorting she has been looking for a way to rewrite history and portray herself as a victim. Dont buy her book people. Waste of GST money.

Hang on. wo wo wo ease up here we're all missing the point: a women was paid $3,000,000 salary and $5,400,000 when she left Telecom. What's up with that?

I'm not a fan of Gattung, she was a ruthless businesswoman when she ran Telecom with Rod Deane and its difficult to feel sorry for her or Telecom with their woes. Minimal sales of her book would be a just reward. Gattungs policy was always to exploit and overcharge the vulnerable customers. If you were a sucker she'd truly take you for one. I also find Gattungs calculated 'Kiwi mum' look as offensive as Sarah Palins deliberate spectacle style. Gattung and Telecom were truly the face of ugly new right NZ business and they were actually far more exploitive of the Kiwi user than Tranz Rail. One final point when I studied 2nd year law and Honours History at Canterbury, the women were beautiful and charming, in marketing papers they were all old bags like Gattung. No one was more interested in money than Gattung from the start of her career, this is a women who went to university in a business suit. The shere effrontery of Gattung claiming the current package for Telecom executives is excessive. Gattungs policy is the same as Gordon Browns in defending obsolete Britsh army equipment in Afghanistan, never tell a half truth or equivicate, a bare faced lie is always better. Its a mark of high intelligence, be blantant in your mask, lie and body.A ghastly woman.

this subject is in the interest of myself and other shareholders, it is not however any of your concern anymore nz. Theresa Gattung has once again made a fool out of herself, she was the worst thing that ever happened to this company.. Paul Reynolds will not recieve his full insentive package after the failures of XT, however the task of breaking up new zealands 2nd largest listed company is no small feat and requires exceptional talent that comes at a cost, NZ media is really the laughing stock of the business community atm, this has been blown so far out of proportion.. however at $2.19 i must thank them for the exceptional bargain on telecoms stock :))

Paul Reynolds is not getting $7 million a year. Most of his income is proformace based. Telecom has proformed badly, he will not get his full package. She was an awful CEO, and is just pissed of that she isn't getting his salary.

Yes I think that Theresa Gattung has got a good point to make that when she was CEO of Telecom she was getting$3 million dollars ayear whereas Paul Reynolds is getting $7 million a year as CEO of Telecom.
