Hamish Dodd gets a Panasonic heat pump installed by Varcoe Refridgeration

By Hamish Dodd

Well it was a miserable day on Wednesday but it was all go for the install of my Panasonic heatpump by the guys from Varcoe Refrigeration.

Paul had already been ouy and met with my wife Johanna and they had selected a great spot for it on our lounge wall. Johanna said what a nice friendly person Paul was and that he was full of great advice. One thing i have learn't is to listen to the professionals.

They arrived right on time at 8:30 as discussed. Great for me as time is a major consideration in the morning with my little treasure Hunter. He is three and a half and thought it was the best thing ever when the guys got the indoor unit out. The main reason for getting the heatpump was to get our home warm and ready for winter as my son suffers from asthma. I had been told that it was a great way to get a warmer dryer home.

Any way back to the wet wednesday. I had to go to work so my mother inlaw came to look after Hunter, and wait to lock up for me. Before i left i asked them to set the timers up for me as i am a bit of a techophobe, well I mean that when i play with electronics things tend to end up for the worse. they talked me through how i live a usual day and set it up to come on at 6 as i get up at 6:30am and off at 8am as i am out of the house by then. For the evening it comes on at 4pm and off at 10pm. This way the house is warm for the family when we get home. I was not sure how it was going to work as i have never lived in a house with a heatpump, I was not dissapointed! I walked into a warm house , not a hot house but a nice comfortable even temperature. 22 degrees as that was the temperature we had decided on.

It was fantastic. Even better was they had left the house in a spotless state. I am big on people cleaning up after they have done work as it shows me how they opperate. The best bit was us all getting up the next morning. It felt so differant to be getting up to a warm house and it felt less damp than i could remember.

So many thanks to the team from Varco Refridgeration for great service, great install and for putting up with my son throwing a cup of water at you out the window while you were setting up the out door unit.

Lets hope their aircon instalation is better than their driving on the southern motorway today, 2 June 2011. 2 VARCO vans, 1 was ok but the other with a number plate TAPPA cut me off so that he could get in front of the other VARCO van, should think a bit better than that when you drive a marked vehicle.
