Getting Your Head Around Kumara Ice Cream

Very smart
A British grower, Scott Farms International has boosted its European camapign supporting sweet potatoes, using the tubers as a source for 2 specially developed desserts; Sweet Potato Ice Cream and Sweet Potato Sorbet.

"We launched the range of recipes last year to demonstrate to consumers the versatility of the sweet potato. This year we wanted to take the love sweet potatoes campaign a step further to really show off the vegetable in its own right and provide fans with a special treat," said Scott Farms International CEO, Stan Smith.

"The new summer recipes are specifically designed to push the boundaries of this. Ice cream that can be one of your five-a-day vegetables and show off its culinary diversity. The sweet potato ice cream and sweet potato sorbet are easy to make and delicious to eat."

"As the UK’s leading grower and importer of sweet potatoes, Scott Farms International will continue to drive the campaign to educate consumers for the benefit of the industry as a whole," said Mr Smith.

How long before the idea catches on in NZ restaurants using the world's finest sweet potato – kumara? Could this development make Dargaville the nation's ice cream capital in waiting?
