Eyewitnesses describe Mt. Tongariro eruption - Audio

Mount Tongariro has erupted for the first time in a century. John, a Turangi local, tells Marcus Lush about his experience of the eruption of Mt. Tongariro overnight. He describes a huge rumbling, before popping outside to see a huge plume of ash. He then evacuated. Stewart Barclay, who had been watching the eruption all night, then says he believes the worst of the eruption is over. 7th August 2012.
